A road closure, fire prevention efforts, and some spooky city events are among the topics covered in GreerView for the week of October 5, 2026.
Upcoming Road Closure
A section of West Phillips Road will be closed for a couple days this week. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the City of Greer will close W. Phillips Rd. from the traffic circle at Gibb Shoals to just before the Twin Magnolia Drive intersection from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Check out our Street Closure article for more information and a map showing where the work is happening.
Training Center Open ForGreer
Leaders from across the Upstate gathered in Greer last week to celebrate the opening of the city's new Public Safety Training Center. The facility is the first of the four ForGreer projects to open. The center will serve as a training hub for Greer Police, Greer Fire, and emergency medical teams.

Project Milestones
Another ForGreer project has hit some big milestones over the past few weeks. Basketball goals are going up inside the Prisma Health Performance Center, and the team has started pouring concrete on the outdoor walking path. The building is now fully enclosed, and the project is still on track for opening in early 2027.

Fire Prevention Week
National Fire Prevention Week is October 4 through 10, and this year's theme is "Safe Charging Is a Superpower!" Fire departments across the country are trying to teach their communities how to safely charge devices that are powered by lithium-ion batteries. Check out fpw.org to learn how to make smart charging choices.
Moonlight Movies
Coming up later this week, the City of Greer will host a special fall Moonlight Movie event to get you in the spooky spirit. Halloween classic, "Hocus Pocus" will hit the screen in Greer City Park at 7:00 p.m. on October 9. Face painting, food vendors, and other activities will begin at 6:00 p.m.
Trunk or Treat on Trade
Mark your calendars for Trunk or Treat on Trade coming up later this month. The free event organized by Greer first responders is set for Sunday, October 25 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Want to decorate and pack your own trunk full of Halloween treats? Fill out this form to apply.
