Closings, Cancellations, & Delays | Trash Collection Schedule Updates

The City of Greer is back to business after back-to-back winter storms hit our community. It will take a bit to fully recover.

Trash Collection:

Our trash contractor, Meridian Waste, says the team was able to collect all Monday routes today and a few others that they had not previously collected. They've told us they're still having problems safely navigating their trucks through the following areas that are normally collected on Thursdays:

  • Abigail Lane

  • Kings Hill Street

  • Leesburg Peak

Meridian Waste says the team will pick up in the areas listed above on their next regular service day -- including any extra trash collected during the storms. We'll post the latest trash collection updates on this page as they work to get back on schedule.

Roads Update:

Our streets team has reopened W. Phillips Rd. near Gibb Shoals and Twin Magnolia Dr. That section had to be closed for several days due to icy conditions.

The team went out first thing this morning to put salt down on some trouble spots on Gibb Shoals, Dillard Road, and E. Suber Rd. We're hoping the sunshine will help melt off any remaining ice. Drivers should continue to use caution until all of the roads are clear.

Parks, Athletics Fields, & Programming:

All of the city's parks and athletic fields remained closed on Monday due to the impact of the winter storms. Check back on this page to find out what's open, closed, canceled, or going on as scheduled in the City of Greer.

Fun Facts:

  • The city streets team plowed and/or treated 578 lane miles of road during the winter storm.

  • The City of Greer appeared on national television this morning during the Fox News coverage of Winter Storm Gianna
