This week's Greerview includes an update on city parks and programming, info on a free tree giveaway, and a big congratulations to our Parks, Recreation, & Tourism team.
The City of Greer is getting back to business after the double whammy of Winter Storms Fern and Gianna.
A huge thanks to the dozens of people from Team Greer who worked around the clock for days at a time battling bitter cold, ice, and snow to keep city streets, sidewalks, and facilities safe.
Our police and fire departments also worked day and night responding to weather-related wrecks and other emergencies.
Greer’s snow totals and low temperatures were so impressive they made it on national television this morning in winter storm coverage from Fox News!
City parks, playgrounds, and athletics facilities remained closed for safety reasons on Monday.
Check out our website for the most up-to-date list of what’s open, closed, happening, and not happening.
The city’s trash contractor is working hard to catch up this week. On Monday, they are operating on a delayed start, but they will be limited in what they can collect because disposal sites remain closed. We’ll keep you posted on this week’s schedule on our website.
Applications are now open to apply for Accommodation Tax Grants. The city awards grants for projects that support tourism in the Greer area. Get more information and an application on our website.
Congratulations to the City of Greer’s Parks, Recreation, & Tourism team for bringing home some hardware last week in Kidding Around Greenville’s annual KABOOM awards.
Recreation Supervisor Justin Miller accepted the first-place award for Best Outdoor Playground for Century Park and a finalist award for Freedom Blast in the Best Family Event category. Learn more on Kidding Around's website.
A popular program is returning to Turner Park on Friday. Trees Upstate and Duke Energy are giving away more than 400 free trees from 3 to 5 p.m. Check our website for more information.
