Trash collection update:

The city’s trash contractor is planning to double up on routes the rest of the week in an attempt to reach all customers before another round of winter weather hits us over the weekend.

Here’s the plan:

Today: Collect Wednesday customers and as many Thursday customers as possible.

Please be patient and check back with us. We’ll update you if we have to move to “Plan B.”

This is an exciting update to write! Our team has just begun to open Trade St. to vehicle traffic. They started removing barricades at the 100 block (Poinsett intersection), and they are working their way down the street to get the entire stretch back open.

The side streets are still a little tricky. The one-way section of Victoria Street from Trade to Poinsett will remain closed for now. It's very shady and still has too much ice accumulation.

Our Wednesday priorities include trying to get downtown clear and reopen Trade Street as soon as it's safe, working to get the ice off Victoria and Randall Streets, and canvassing neighborhoods for areas that need to be treated.

Trash update: Tuesday's routes are being picked up today. Drivers are also going to try to get the remaining Monday routes as well, but pickup in those areas will be dependent upon the condition of the roads. We're posting updates on the trash collection schedule here.

The City of Greer Convenience Center is back open today.

Trade St. is still closed downtown, but our team is doing everything it can to get it back open as soon as possible. The sidewalks on Trade have been treated, but please continue to use caution. Crews have been applying granular salt to the street and have been working to clear the side streets off Trade this morning. We will keep you posted on the status.
