EDIT 8/4/25 - The work plan to start at City Hall has been rained out. We will keep you posted with any updates.
Repair work on City Hall won’t interrupt customer service next week, but it will periodically impact some parts of the sidewalk, the parking lot, and the main entrance.
On Monday, August 4, contractors will begin work to fix lingering damage from Hurricane Helene. They’ll start on the side of City Hall that faces Line Street. Some parking spaces near the work zone will be closed when needed for safety. A dedicated monitor will pause repair work for customers who need to access to the ADA entrance of City Hall.
On Tuesday, the work will mainly impact the sidewalks around the clock tower and along the back side of City Hall adjacent to City Park.
Repairs should be complete by the end of Wednesday, Aug. 6.

The two ADA-compliant courts are set to serve the recreation needs of our community for years to come, along with much needed parking at the site. Stevens courts are now open to all at 150 Ball Park St. from dawn to dusk.
Be sure to stop by and shoot some hoops!

Camp counselors recently put together a carnival-themed day for our youth summer camp at the Needmore Center. Outside, the City of Greer Parks, Recreation & Tourism mobile recreation unit offered putt-putt and cornhole, while inside featured carnival games and a concession stand with popcorn and other snacks.
Camp Greer is a great way to keep kids active during the summer. Stay tuned to our website for upcoming information on the 2026 summer camp: https://www.cityofgreersc.gov/.../recreation-summer-camps

City leaders cut a ceremonial ribbon to mark the opening of two new ADA-accessible basketball courts at Stevens Field. High school basketball players and cheerleaders joined in on the celebration and spent some time on the courts with dozens of kids from the city’s summer camp program.
The city will utilize the Stevens courts for rec programs, community events, and even skateboarding classes. When the courts are not occupied with city programs, they’ll be open for free-play from dawn to dusk.

Whether you’ve stretched out in the grass at City Park after a long day, strolled down Trade Street on a summer evening, or played early morning pickleball at Tryon, you’ve enjoyed something our Urban Parks team made possible.
Greer wouldn’t feel like Greer without their hard work and dedication to keeping the city maintained, safe, and beautiful.
Next time you see a member of the Urban Parks team—or anyone in our Public Services department—be sure to thank them, especially as they continue working through the summer heat.

Join us Saturday, July 19, from 6 to 9 p.m. to see The Carolina Coast Band perform live. You’ll also catch performances from both Greer Idol and Greer Idol Jr. contestants—and your vote could be the one that keeps a contestant in the competition.

Today, we’re highlighting five of our neighborhood parks:
📌 B.P. Edwards

If your kids need to burn off some energy this summer, these parks are a great place to start. Spread across Greer, each park offers more than just a playground.
B.P. Edwards, Greentown and Wards Creek all feature basketball half courts, and all five parks include open green space with plenty of seating. These neighborhood parks also tend to be quieter, making them ideal for those who prefer to avoid crowds or have sensory sensitivities.
