Saturday, 5:00 p.m. Update

Please avoid N. Line Street between E. Arlington Ave and E. Poinsett Street. Greer PD is working a crash, and the roadway is blocked by emergency vehicles. Please avoid driving at all if you can. Road conditions have been rough most of the day.

Saturday, 11:30 a.m. Update

The roads are getting treacherous. Please stay off them if you can. Greer PD has responded to six wrecks in the past hour, and they have had to rescue drivers who have gotten stuck in the area of Highway 14 and Chandler Road.

Please take these warnings seriously. The snow is coming down too fast for any road crews to keep up.

Saturday, 8:00 a.m. Update

Snow has started falling in the Greer area. It's going to continue throughout the day. Please stay off the roads unless you absolutely have to get out.

This weekend is going to be bitterly cold. Please be careful if you're using space heaters to stay warm. The Greer Fire Department says a space heater caused a fire at a home on Mason Street late last night. Firefighters had to rescue three people trapped inside the home.

Fire Chief Dorian Flowers recommends you give at least three feet of clearance around space heaters in your home.

Chief Flowers shared these winter weather safety tips before last week's snow storm.
