intersection at E. Poinsett and Trade St.

Drivers traveling through downtown Greer Tuesday night (Sept. 9) should prepare for detours as crews work to repair crosswalk lights along East Poinsett Street.

As part of the City’s ongoing efforts to improve pedestrian safety and walkability, crews will repair two sets of crosswalk lights near where E. Poinsett intersects with Trade and Depot streets. The project includes removing the existing light lenses, installing new ones, and restoring the lighting control equipment to full operation.

For the safety of workers, closures will take place in two waves:

  • Wave One: East Poinsett from Depot Street to Randall Street, near the main entrance to Greer City Park

  • Wave Two: East Poinsett from Trade Street to Victoria Street, near Barista Alley and Abbott’s Frozen Custard

Work is scheduled between 8 p.m. and midnight, with one section of the street closing at a time. During this period, officers will redirect traffic off E. Poinsett to Randall, Cannon, and Trade streets.

East Poinsett St. should be fully open by Wednesday morning.
